DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa February 17, 2009)

MILLIGAN, Grace Elaine Overholtzer, 106, of South Kansas City, Missouri, died February 12, 2010. Memorial Services were held in the Westminster Hall at Kingswood Manor, February 15, 2010. Graveside services took place in Leon, Iowa in the Leon Cemetery on February 15 with arrangements through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Grace Elaine Milligan, age 106 of Kingswood Manor, South Kansas City, MO passed away on Feb. 12, 2010.

Memorial services were held in Westminster Hall at Kingswood Manor, 10000 Wornall Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside services took place in Leon, Iowa in the Leon Cemetery on Monday Feb. 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

The only child of Lewis Grant and Laura Curry Overholtzer, she was born on May 2, 1903 in Decatur County, Iowa. She was a graduate of Stevens College and Kansas City University.

A Kansas Citian most of her life, she taught the third grade at Center School District from which she retired in 1966. She was a member of South Broadland Presbyterian Church where she was a participant in Circle One.

Mrs. Milligan is preceded in death by her husband and only son. Lionel C. Milligan whom she married in 1936, passed away in 1980. To this union was born one son, Howard Joseph, who passed away in 1964.

Mrs. Milligan enjoyed genealogy. She researched, wrote and published the Overholtzer ancestry. She also enjoyed teaching, cooking, antiques and playing bridge.

She is survived by her grandsons, Howard Joseph Milligan, Jr. and wife Marcy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Michael Lewis Ricklefs and wife Susan of Gresham, Oregon; and special friend, Mary Anna Fowler of Boca Raton, Florida.

Grace Elaine was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.
