DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa February 17, 2010)

SWIGART, Wilma Marie, 81, of Lamoni, Iowa, died February 6, 2010. Funeral services were held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon February 11, with Elder Charles Snethen and Rev. Pete Sheesley officiating. Burial was in the Davis City Cemetery, Davis City, Iowa.

WILMA MARIE SWIGART ... Wilma Marie Swigart, age 81 of Lamoni, Iowa, was born January 1, 1929, west of Davis City in Decatur County, Iowa. She was the second of five daughters born to Paul Ervil and Veta Mae [Robbins] Tellier. She went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2010.

Wilma attended school in Davis City. Several of her early years were spent in the home of her Uncle Oscar and Aunt Alice Tellier and she was regarded as their own. On November 10, 1945 Wilma was united in marriage to Lester Roscoe DeLong. To this union there were four children, deceased infant Bonnie, Richard Lee, Carla Sue, and Gail Marie. A few of their early years of marriage were spent in Davis City then they moved to the farm in Harrison County, Missouri, where they raised their family and worked side by side on the farm until Lester's death on September 21, 1987.

Wilma remained on the farm until she married Frances G. Swigart on October 14, 1988, when she moved into Lamoni. With this marriage she was blessed to inherit another family whom she loved dearly. During her time with Francis, they spent time in Texas, traveled to Hawaii and Alaska to visit Francis's daughter and grandchildren. Francis passed away on January 7, 1991, Wilma stayed in Lamoni.

In August of 1987, Wilma rededicated her life to the Lord and was baptized in Little River Lake on a beautiful Sunday morning. She was a faithful member of the Davis City Assembly of God Church and served on the church board for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; baby daughter Bonnie DeLong; husbands, Lester DeLong and Francis Swigart; stepdaughters, Wanda Lesan and Roberta & Bill Stoats; oldest sister Leola Gail & Pete Graham; Lester's siblings and spouses, Garland & Emma DeLong, Mabel & Norma Barth, Dwight & Mabel DeLong, and Viola & Forest Still; Francis's brothers and wives, Meritt & Ruby Swigart, Weldon & Ruth Swigart, and Paul Swigart; and cousin J.D. Quick.

Survivors include her children, Richard & Rose DeLong of Sun City, Arizona, Carla & Ken Carman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Gail & David Reno of Lenexa, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Joshua DeLong, Zachary & Tonya DeLong, Katie DeLong, Ara & Justin Echols, Lindy & Shane Kralicek, Jonathon Toney, Christopher & Jeana Reno, and Amanda Reno; six great grandchildren; stepson-in-law Marvin "Pete" Lesan and family; sisters, Diane & Jerry Hullinger, Paula & Richard Boswell, and Judy Eakes, all of Davis City, Iowa; sister-in-law Doris Swigart of Lamoni; and a host of other relatives and friends.
