JOHN OFFIELD was born January 26, 1846, in Livingston County, Mo., and died
at his home near Davis City, Iowa, February 22, 1914, at the age of 68 years
27 days, after a lingering illness of four months. He was united in
marriage to REBECCA ALLEN, Feb. 13th, 1869. to this union were born six
children, three sons and three daughters; WILLIAM, ALICE, ELIZABETH, NORA,
CHARLES and LEWIS, two of the number having died in infancy. He had eleven
grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at the Holden Church near Davis City, Iowa.
The funeral sermon was preached by Evangelist W.E. Batterton, of Davis City,
Iowa. Interment followed in the Hamilton Cemetery near Pleasanton. He was
a kind and loving father and loved and respected by all who knew him. And
it was hard to give him up; his presence will be greatly missed. He united
with the Christian Church at clear Creek, Mo., in 1849.
