Leon, Iowa

MARY J. MILLER was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, March 6, 1837, and died
at her home in Decatur county, Iowa, March 4, 1913, aged 75 years, 11 months
and 29 days.

She was united in marriage to PHILIP MILLER, April 11, 1860. To this union
were born seven children, five boys and two girls, two of which died in
infancy. Those living are SEARIGHT D., JAMES H., MARY V. BEERS, FRANCIS M.,
LUCY J., all being present at her bedside during her sickness and funeral.
Besides these she leaves two sisters, one brother and eighteen grandchildren
She was converted and joined the U.B. Church in early girlhood, and she
remained in this faith until called to the church triumphant above. Her
neighbors and friends say nothing is too good to say of her life. She was a
mother to the community. Her mission was to care for the sick, and help the
needy. This is a mission akin to the Master's going about doing good. Much
of this kind of service is soon forgotten by earth, but it is treasured in
the realm of the soul.

Services were held at the home March 6th after which she was laid to rest in
the cemetery, P.H. Hawk, Pastor of M.E. Church at Grand River, officiating.
