DIED -- At his residence in Decatur City, Iowa, on Friday morning, 21st inst
, JAMES H. OWNBY, aged 70 years, 1 month and 14 days.

Uncle OWNBY was born in Bedford Co., Va., in the year 1813; was married
April 17th, 1839 to Miss A. WRAY; moved to Mt. Pleasant, this State in 1851,
from there to Knoxville in 1853, and from there in 1855 moved to Decatur
City, where he lived until his death, after a residence of nearly 28 years.
He was father of five children, four boys and one girl, all of whom are
living and were at home at the time of their father's death. Mr. OWNBY has
been in the hotel business during his entire residence in Decatur. He was a
member of the United Brethren Church and served in the capacity of deacon
for a number of years, and lived a consistent, Christian life. We always
found Uncle OWNBY ready to do acts of kindness and was never known to turn
any one away from his door, if it were possible to keep them, and many
hearts were made glad by his kind hospitality.

To the widow and children of the deceased we would say, in behalf of their
many friends, that they have the sympathy of all in their bereavement,
knowing that they have lost a good husband, and a kind father, but their
loss is his gain.
