DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa December 23, 2009)

CARRICO, Darlene [Baker], 87, of Osceola, Iowa, formerly of Leon, Iowa, died December 17, 2009 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola December 22 with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

MILDRED "DARLENE" CARRICO ... Mildred "Darlene" Carrico, daughter of Harry Fay Clark and Ethel Marie [Spidle] Clark, was born August 4, 1922 in Decatur Co., Iowa and passed from this life December 17, 2009 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 87 years of age.

Darlene grew up near Leon, where she attended Reynolds Country School and Leon High School. She united in marriage with Max Layton Baker, and two sons wee born to this union. Max preceded her in death in 1973.

On November 14, 1999, Darlene and Dean Carrico united in marriage at New Virginia, IA. The couple made their home in Osceola where they lived for 10 years preceding her death.

Darlene had also lived in Des Moines and Ankeny. She worked at Des Moines General Hospital as a ward clerk and also had worked as a bookkeeper. She was active in gold, bridge, enjoyed social outings with friends and enjoyed looking at old pictures.

Preceding Darlene in death were her parents; first husband Layton Baker; son, Bill Baker; granddaughter, Kathy Baker; brother, Dean Clark; sister, Ruby Lois Shook; brothers, Lynn and Lyle Clark; daughter-in-law, Judith Baker.

She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Dean Carrico of Osceola; son Fred Baker (Nancy) of Springfield, MO; step children, Larry Carrison (Connie) of Murray, Linda Baughman (Mike) of Bondurant, Shirley Snell of Osceola, Donnie Carrico (Kris) of Murray, Jimmie Carrico of Des Moines; sister, Doris Allpress of Leon; 17 grandchildren / step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
