DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Wednesday October 19. 2005)

BARCUS, Robert Harold, 89, of Osceola, Iowa, died October 12, 2005 at the Clarke county Hospital. Funeral services ere held October 15 at the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola With rev. Phil Coe officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

ROBERT HAROLD BARCUS ... Robert Harold Barcus of Osceola, Iowa passed away October 12, 2005 at the Clarke County Hospital, Osceola, at the age of the eighty-nine years. He was born October 18, 1915, son of George Emry Barcus and Ora Alice Barr Barcus.

The family lived in Clarke County during the early years, but moved to Bremer County for a short period of time. Harold graduated from Sumner High School in Bremer County, Iowa. The family returned to farm near Lacelle in 1933.

Harold married Alberta Irene Reynolds, April 22, 1936 in Leon, Iowa. The newlyweds started farming near Lacelle in Clarke County and later purchased a farm east of Weldon, Iowa where the family resided until their retirement in 1980 to Osceola. Harold was active in community, a member of the Farm Bureau, and a member of the Weldon Christian Church. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alberta in 1992; and his son-in-law, Dalton Meyer.

He is survived by his son Roger Harold Barcus and wife Carol of Rochester, IL; daughter Karen Ruby Barcus of Criss of North Aurora, IL; five grandchildren: Michelle Warriner and husband Mark of Fairview Heights, IL; Christy Barcus of Rochester, IL; Marcia Arb and husband Ron, North Aurora, IL; and Scott Criss of Irvine, CA; 5 great grandchildren; Justin and Alex Arb, Parker, Bruce and Grant Henderson, all of North Aurora, IL; and one step great grandson, Casey Warriner of Fairview Heights, IL; sister, Ruby O'Dell Meyer of Sumner, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends of the Osceola / Weldon area.
