MILLICENT VAUGHN STANLEY, daughter of GIST and IDA VAUGHN, was born at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, June l8, l840, and died at her home in Chariton, Iowa, June 9, l924, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 22 days.

She united with the Christian Church when l7 years of age and lived a devout life ever after until death ended her labors. For 45 years, she has been a member of the Chariton Christian Church, always magnifying the name of the Christ. When a young girl, she moved with her parents from Ohio to Leon, where she grew to womanhood. She afterwards returned to Ohio and there married JAMES STANLEY at Mt. Gilead, on December 2, l880. To this union was born one daughter, MRS. BEN CUNNINGHAM, of this city, with whom MRS. STANLEY has made her home for several years.

She is preceded in death by her husband. Those left to mourn their loss are her daughter, MRS. ELLA CUNNINGHAM, Chariton, Iowa; four step-children, MRS. MINNIE MOFFETT, of Liberty, Kansas; LLOYD STANLEY, Chanute, Kansas; LEON STANLEY, Parsons, Kansas; and MRS. PEARL MILLER, of St. Joseph, Michigan.

MRS. STANLEY has been a partial invalid for fourteen years, a victim of paralysis. Two weeks ago, she took seriously ill, lingering until 2:40 o'clock on Monday morning when the Angel of Life came and bore the great soul up to the Christ she had served with unreserved devotion for so many years.

The funeral services were held from the home at 7l5 Woodlawn, after which tender hands laid the poor broken body to rest in the Chariton Cemetery.
