KIMBALL HICKMAN was born April 6, l839, and died Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock p.m. February 6, l924, at his home in north Leon, Iowa. Age 84 years and l0 months old. He came from Cochocton County, Ohio, with his parents in l859, and they settled on their fine farm in Woodland Township.

He was married to THIRZA JANE BLAKE, at the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. JOSEPH BLAKE in Eden Township, February 23, l862, the ceremony being performed by Elder William Stout of the Dunkard Church. The young couple went to housekeeping at once on what is known as the Sam Sears farm 3 l/2 miles northeast of Leon. A year later they moved to his father's farm in Woodland Township where they lived four years, they then moved to a farm just south of Leon, where they lived l2 years. At that time they bought the old Hickman homestead, where they resided until l904, they then turned the farm over to their youngest son FRANK, and moved to Leon, making him a continuous resident on the one farm 45 years.

Five children were born to MR. and MRS. HICKMAN, one daughter dying at the age of 2 years old. Those who survive him are MRS. LEORA E. WALLACE, of Kansas City, Missouri; JOHN T. HICKMAN, Humeston, Iowa; FRANK P. HICKMAN, of Wood, South Dakota; JENNIE V. TURNER, of Kellerton, Iowa. Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren remain to mourn his loss.

They celebrated their golden wedding February 23, l9l2, at their home in Leon, Iowa, and were spared to live l2 more happy years together, making their continued married life 62 years. MRS. HICKMAN having preceded him 5 months ago, September 9, l923.

MR. HICKMAN united with the Christian Church in Leon, Iowa, several years ago, and lived a devoted Christian life. In their last feeble years, their (*can't read) and wife moved in the home with them, to see they were well cared for. And it can be truly said that everything was carried out as nearly as could be done. He was a great lover of his home, as well as his elder friends. Just last Saturday he was able to be down town and met his many old friends and neighbors. His sickness was of short duration, and in all his life, he had never been sick in bed, or had to call a doctor but once which was 2 years ago.

MR. and MRS. HICKMAN were the last surviving members of their families.

Funeral service was at the Christian Church, Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, February l0, l924. The body was laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery.
