FRANCIS MARION TURPEN was born at Pleasanton, Iowa, September 24, l89l, passed away at Creston, Iowa, November 4, l923.

He leaves to mourn his wife and two chidren, father and mother, MR. and MRS. W.B. TURPEN, two sisters, MRS. A.A. MCWILLIAMS, of Pleasanton, Iowa, and MRS. JOHN HALL, of Waukomis, Oklahoma, one brother, MARTIN M. TURPEN, of Pleasanton, Iowa.

His boyhood and early life was spent in the vicinity of Pleasanton, where he leaves a host of friends and relatives. During the World War he was among the many boys who tendered their services in the interest of their country and humanity. At the time of his death, he was employed as an engineer on the C.B. & Q. R.R. and held the friendship of over seven hundred colaborers, who generously extended the hand of relief to his loved ones.

Funeral services were conducted by Elder C.E. Wight, of Lamoni, and were largely attended. Interment was in the Hamilton Cemetery at Pleasanton.
