HOWARD HUBART BENNETT was born in Illinois, Dec. 23, l868, and departed this life November 27, l923, at Reasoner, Iowa, at the age of 54 years, ll months and 4 days. The deceased came with his parents to Leon, Iowa, at the age of five months, having spent all of his life in Decatur County, Iowa, until 8 years ago when he moved with his family to Colorado. In the year of l890, he was united in marriage to ANNA ROGERS, and to this union nine children were born, 8 sons and l daughter, HARRY BOAZ, 3 years and one infant son, preceded their father to the better land. The surviving children are: JAMES, of Denver, Colorado; IRA, of Decatur, Iowa; BENJAMIN, of Atlantic, Iowa; ARTHUR, BURTIE, LLOYD and FRED still at home in Denver, Colorado. He leaves to mourn his sad loss, his devoted wife, 7 children, 5 grandchildren, l brother, FRANK, of Humeston, Iowa and one sister, MRS. NELLIE TURNER, of Lamoni, Iowa.

Brother BENNETT was converted and united with the Palestine Baptist Church 22 years ago, having always been true to the Lord and taking an active part in the church, always ready to do the Lord's will. In the loss of Brother BENNETT the family have lost a kind husband and father and the entire community a kind and loving friend. The family were all present at the funeral except JAMES and BENJAMIN who were detained on account of sickness.

Funeral services were held at the Palestine Baptist Church, conducted by the writer, Rev. N.B. Sill, of Darlington, Mo., in the midst of a large congregation of sorrowing friends. Brother BENNETT had been a great sufferer for nearly two years but bore it with great patience.
