ROBERT LINDSEY OVERTON was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, September 29, l863 and died in Pleasanton, Iowa, June 20, l923; being 60 years, 8 months and 2l days of age. When a small child his parents moved to Mercer, Mo. He remained there until about ten years ago when he became a resident of Pleasanton, Iowa. He was married to MISS ANNIE SARAH CURTIS, July l7, l887. To this union were born five children, four of whom are now living, one having died in infancy. Besides his faithful wife, he leaves three sons, a daughter, eleven grandchildren, also a sister, MRS. ISAAC CURTIS, of Half Rock, Mo. A large circle of friends keenly feel his loss.

Uncle ROBERT, as he was familiarly called, began the Christian life at Old, now New Liberty Church in l897 and associated himself with the Christian Church at Cainsvile, Mo., later he moved his membership to New Liberty Church. After his removal to Pleasanton, he united with the Christian Union Church, of which he remained a devoted and faithful member until his death.

He was also an honored and respected member of the Masonic Order and of the Eastern Star. A good man has fallen and his presence and admonitions will be sadly missed (*can't read) of acquaintances.

A largely attended funeral service was held at the Christian Union Church, conducted by the Rev. Wm. B. Thompson, of Davis City and Pleasanton. A very large company of friends and neighbors accompanied the remains to the beautiful north cemetery where the burial service was in charge of the Masonic Order.
