WILLIAM, son of CHRISTIAN and ELIZABETH OVERHOLTZER, was born in Emmetsburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania, April 5, l836; departed this life June l2, l923, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 7 days.

He was the last surviving member of a family of eleven children. He was united in marriage to MISS MARY J. LANG, September 4, l864. To this union were born three children: MRS. JOHN OVERHOLTZER, of Tingley, Iowa; W.F. and S.H., of Grand River, Iowa. In the year of l87l, they moved to Decatur County, Iowa, living in and near Grand River, until his death. His companion of 59 years preceded him but a short time, dying May l3, l923. His three children, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, with many relatives and friends, survive him.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, Thursday, June l4, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E.C. Vanderpool, of Lockridge, Iowa. Interment in the Grand River Cemetery beside his wife.
