CHARITY ANN BROWN was born in Warren County, Indiana, in l833 and died near Leon, Iowa, June l8, l924, being over 9l years of age.

She came to Iowa in September, l852. She was married to THOMAS THARP in l856. To this union eight children were born, four boys and four girls; five of the children and her husband preceded her in death. Those who survive her are: MRS. H.S. MILLER, of Los Angeles, Cal.; H.A. THARP, of Bakersfield, Cal.; and CHAS. R. THARP, of Macedonia, Iowa; two brothers, several grandchildren and many distant relatives. She had lived in Decatur County for over seventy-two years.

Funeral services at the Franklin Church, conducted by A.L. Sears and the body was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
