JOHN ACTON, son of GEORGE and SARAH ACTON, was born June ll, l850, in Rock Castle, Kentucky, and departed this life at his home near Grand River, March l5th, l923, being at the time of his death, 72 years, 9 months and 4 days old.

He moved with his father from Kentucky to Jefferson County, Iowa, in l863. After living there about five years, he came to Decatur County, where he resided the rest of his life.

He united with the Methodist Church in Jefferson County when about l6 years of age, and remained true to his faith until the last, and said he was willing to go where suffering would be no more.

He was married March l, l875, to CLARISA BRAMMER. He leaves to mourn his death, his companion and two brothers: SILAS, of Grand River, and WILLIAM, of Greentop, Missouri; four brothers and four sisters having preceded him to the better land.

He was a kind and loving neighbor, respected by all who knew him, and he will be sadly missed in the community.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at ll:00 o'clock by Rev. Orr Campbell, of Humeston, Pastor of Pleasant Valley Church and the remains interred at the Young Cemetery.
