MRS. CHARLOTTA VIOLET (CASH) SELLERS, youngest child of ELI and CHARLOTTA VIOLET (GAY) CASH, was born in Daviess County, Mo., Sept. 30, l844, and passed away at her home at Decatur, March 7, l923, after an illness with catarrhal fever, being 78 years, 5 months and 7 days old.

Her mother passed away when she was an infant in l845, and with her father, brothers and sister she came to Decatur County, Iowa, the family settling in Burrell Township. In l846, her father was united in marriage to RACHEL BELEW, of New Buda Township. When she was four years old, death visited them and took away the father, leaving the family alone in the wilderness under the care of the oldest brother, WILLIAM. The privations and hardships of this pioneer family cannot even be imagined by the people of today. When she was l3 years old, she was left an orphan by the death of her step-mother, and she made her home until 2l years old with her brother, WILLIAM. She was united in marriage to JOHN SELLERS of this county, on Dec. l2, l866. To this union were born ten children, all living at the time of her death, except one, JOSEPH WALTER, who preceded her in death April l6, l904. Her husband died March 3, l92l. ESTELLA BAKER, Davis City, Iowa; also 28 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MRS. SELLERS was the youngest of a family of seven children, all of whom have preceded her in death. She became a Christian while she was quite young, uniting with the United Brethren Church, May 28, l905, being baptized by Rev. Harvey, of Tuskeego. In l9l5 she united with the Pentecostal faith and was a sincere believer in her Savior and His Divine Power, and was faithful to her God until death.

She was a kind and loving mother, a self-sacrificing neighbor. No needy person was ever turned away unrelieved. Her food and shelter were always shared with the hungry and needy. MRS. SELLERS had a most remarkable memory and could relate interesting events of early pioneer days, retaining her mental faculties even to the last. On March 3rd, she had a sinking spell, and after she revived she realized that death was near. Calling her children who were present to her bedside, she said, "Don't weep for me when I am gone, for I am ready to go." She requested her absent children be sent for so they could be with her before she passed away. The Lord permitted her to tarry four days longer, hoping the children would arrive before she passed away. When the children did not arrive she kept repeating, "I don't see why they do not come." Feeling the Lord was calling her and she must go, she said to tell the children she left her testimony, for them to meet her in Heaven; they can if they will, for all things are possible with God. She fell asleep in Jesus. She had said, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day."

Funeral services were conducted by Bro. L.E. Brown, of Grand River, Sunday, March llth, who after reading the fourteenth chapter of Job, took his text from the first verse. "Man that is born of woman is of few days and full of sorrow." Interment was at Elk Chapel.
