IONA EMMA HARDINGER, daughter of J.B. and ALICE HARDINGER, was born August ll, l887, at Osceola, Iowa, and departed this life at her home in Leon, Iowa, February l6, l923, being aged 35 years, six months and five days.

In March of l903, the family moved to Moundville, Missouri. Here deceased professed the Christian experience and related herself in membership with the Methodist Church. Throughout the intervening years she had been true to her faith and loyal to her vows, and the end brought to her the victory of those who trust the Christ. She was united in marriage to FRED T. EPPERLEY, April 2l, l909, and to this union were born three children, OPAL, aged l3, MARY VIRGINIA, aged ll and MARGARET LOUISE, aged three years. As wife and mother she had been everything in affection, in sacrifice, in example, in Christian devotion.

Deceased had been active in these enterprises and movements that purposed to make better and happier the home life of the community. Her great interest was manifest in the promotion of the spiritual and educational life of her own and other children. She was active in the Parent-Teacher Association, and a zealous worker in the Methodist Church, the O.E.S., Pythian Sisters, and Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion.

The duration of her illness was but a few hours and the news of her death came as a numbing shock to all. A cold developed into a pneumonia from which there was no hope of recovery.

Beside the husband and children, there are left to mourn, the father and mother, MR. and MRS. HARDINGER, of Grand River, two sisters, MRS. FRED YOUNG and MRS. C.E. WALTERS, of Leon, one brother, J.B. HARDINGER, JR., also of Leon, together with a great number of friends who loved and honored her for the fine qualities of her life.

The funeral service was held from the Leon Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, February l8, conducted by Rev. J.E. Habliston and E.A. Place. The body was laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery.
