MARY ANN PARKHURST was born in Wapello County, Iowa, on Nov. 2, l860, passing from this life at her home south of Davis City, Iowa, on Feb. l0, l923, being at the time of her death, 62 years, 3 months and 8 days of age.

With her mother, she moved to this vicinity in l878. She was united in marriage to JOSEPH FRANCIS HAGAN, on December l2, l880. After their marriage they began housekeeping at the old homestead, where she has lived continuously until the day of her death.

To this union were born seven children, one of whom died in infancy. The remaining children, namely, MRS. ORA LAPOINT, of Ottumwa, Ia.; MRS. CORA FETTY, JUKE L., JOHN F., JOSEPH C., and WILLIAM HAROLD HAGAN, all of Davis City, together with fourteen grandchildren, one sister, MRS. S.L. BAILEY, of Des Moines, Iowa, a number of other relatives and a host of friends remain to mourn her departure.

Her companion, JOSEPH FRANCIS HAGAN, Preceded her to the Great Beyond, one year and four days, having succumbed to that dreaded disease known to mankind as cancer. She nursed him during his entire illness and was at his bedside constantly, contracting the same disease from which she has been a great sufferer. Her passing, however, was directly caused from a complication of flu and pneumonia.

The six remaining children, with the exception of WILLIAM HAROLD HAGAN, who was detained on account of sickness, together with MRS. S.L. BAILEY, of Des Moines, Iowa, were present at the funeral and have the sympathy of the community.

The funeral service was held at the Saints Church in Davis City, in charge of Bishop Carmichael of Lamoni, sermon by Elder W.E. Prall. Interment at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Davis City.
