LOUIS BROLIN was born in Sweden, near Upland, Jan. 24, l843, and died at the home of his son, GIDEON BROLN, near Leon, Iowa, Jan. l0, l923, lacking l4 days of being 80 years old. He was the oldest of four children, two of whom died some years ago. The surviving brother still lives in Sweden. MR. BROLIN came to America in l88l, settling in Chicago. In l883, he came to Decatur County, where he had since resided.

As a child, he was a member of the Lutheran Church. He was married to CHRISTENIA SVENSDOTLER, Feb. 26, l876, and to them one child was born. MRS. BROLIN died Jan. l8, l9l4. Since her death, MR. BROLIN lived with his son and family. Everything possible to make his life pleasant was done by his faithful daughter-in-law, who looked upon him as a father, as her own parents never came to this country. MR. BROLIN leaves a son and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and one niece, who lives in Chicago, the only relatives living in America.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday, Jan. l2th, at 2 p.m., conducted by Wm. J. Campbell, of Davis City. The body was laid to rest in the Chastain Cemetery by the side of his wife and four grandchildren.
