Thursday, January ll, l923ESTELLE BOWLING, daughter of REV. and MRS. HENRY BOWLING, was born in the State of Indiana, September 20, l849, and died at her home in Garden Grove, Iowa, December 25, l922. Her age was 73 years, 3 months and l day.
Her mother having died when she was but a small child about three years old, relatives and friends opened their homes to her, and she grew to young womanhood in the State of her birth and acquired a good education.
In l870, she enrolled in the State Normal College at Bloomington, Illinois, where she attended for two years, and afterward became a successful school teacher for several years. She was united in marriage with J.A. WILSON in January, l876, and her home has been in Garden Grove the last forty-six years.
Many friends and acquaintances, covering a long period of time have come to know and respect her. She united with the Methodist Church early in life and was generally known as a person of much sincerity. She was the mother of one son, PROF. W.E. WILSON, of Des Moines, who grew to manhood in this community.
For the past thirty years, MRS. WILSON has suffered from ill health. Many efforts were made for her recovery but none seemed to bring permanent relief. For the last several months she had been confined to her home. The end has been approaching gradually during the last few days, and being conscious of this she expressed her willingness to go. She leaves her husband and son and a sister, MRS. ELIZABETH WHITTED, and a brother, ELISHA BOWLING and granddaughter, MISS IRENE MARIE WILSON.
The funeral services were conducted from the M.E. Church Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 27th. The body was laid to rest in the beautiful Garden Grove Cemetery,
services being conducted by the Rev. Andrew.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
