MARIAN LEROY NORDYKE, son of MR. and MRS. E. NORDYKE, was born at Brighton in Washington County, Iowa, May l, l898. He departed this life at his home in Franklin Township in Decatur County, Iowa, July 6, l922. He was 24 years, 2 months and 5 days old. He came with his parents to Decatur County, in l902. Thus, he lived all but four years of his life in the Fair View Community, where he leaves a host of friends who deeply sympathize with his bereaved wife and relatives. After completing the public school course of his home community, he attended the high school at Leon.

On February 4, l920, he was united in marriage to MISS LYDIA DAVIS, by whom he is survived.

He was a member of the Homesteaders Lodge at Leon. He was converted at the age of l2 years and united with the Fair View Methodist Episcopal Church in l9ll, during the Pastorate of Rev. M.T. Butterfield. In his death the church has lost a faithful and devoted member, and the community a genuine Christian citizen.

He leaves to mourn their loss, besides his wife, and his parents, six sisters and three brothers: MRS. ETHEL MCNELLY, of Leon, Iowa; MRS. EDNA BAIN, of Afton, Iowa; GRACE, DOROTHY, WILMA, BEULAH, WALTER, WALLACE and OSCAR, one grandfather, MR. PERRY VAN WINKLE, of Brighton, Iowa; and many other relatives.

The funeral services were held at the home Sunday, July 9th, at two o'clock, in charge of the Pastor Rev. V.W. Henderson. The interment was made in the cemetery at Leon. Those in attendance at the funeral, from a distance, were: Ira Nordyke, of Fairfield, Iowa; Clarence Van Winkle, of Merrimack, Iowa; Bebb Williams, of Williamsburg, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. D.O. Evans and son, Ioan, of Sigourney, Iowa.
