MOSES DANIELS was born in Jackson County, Ohio, January l2, l834. He was the eldest son of RICHARD and MARY DANIELS, and died at the home of his son, THOMAS, in Davis City, Iowa, May l3, l922, aged 88 years, four months and one day.

When he was fourteen years old, he moved with his parents to Knox County, Illinois. He was married July 3l, l853, to MISS CLARISSA BULLARD, and to this union were born nine children, of whom, THOMAS W., IRA S., PHILLIP S., and RICHARD, are living. Early in life he united with the Protestant Methodist Church and had always lived a consistent and worthy member. He enlisted for service in the Civil War in the First Missouri Engineers, September 2l, l862, and was honorably discharged at St. Louis, March 3, l865. He was a member of Decatur Lodge, No. l02, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, having been initiated July 3l, l875, and became a Past Noble Grand, December 3l, l879.

The funeral services were held from the Davis City Methodist Church, Monday afternoon, May l5, conducted by the Rev. E.A. Place, of Leon. The body was laid to rest in the old cemetery at Davis City, the burial services of the I.O.O.F. being carried out at the graveside.
