MRS. MARGARET L. SCHIEFELBUSH was born in Siegburg, Germany, in l848, and died Oct. 27, l923, at Davis City, Iowa, at the home of her daughter, MRS. H.L. MCCLARAN.

Her parents came to this country in l849 and settled in St. Louis, Mo., later moved to Burlington, Iowa, where the deceased was raised to womanhood. In l866, the family moved to New Buda, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to J.M. SYLVESTER at Leon, Iowa, in l867, where they lived for a number of years before they moved to Davis City. To this union were born seven children, three of whom have passed away, ORIN L., ERNEST C., NELLIE DALE, the four remaining children are MRS. LILLIAN G. MCCLARAN, Davis City; CARL C., of Leeday, Okla.; RALPH E., of Reno, Nev.; MRS. CORABELLE HUNT, of South Bend, Ind., all of whom were at her bedside during her long illness. She also has five sisters and one brother left to mourn her loss.

She resided a number of years with her daughter, MRS. CORABELLE HUNT in California, but returned to Iowa in l9l5. Her frail constitution kept her from many active duties she loved to perform, but during her long illness was loved by all who knew her for her kind and sympathetic nature.

Rev. Thompson of Chariton, presided over the services, and a choir from Lamoni furnished the music, rendering the song she loved best, "Beautiful Valley of Eden, home of the pure and blest," to which her sweet spirit no doubt is now resting in peace after all her pain and suffering, leaving a vacancy which nothing can ever fill in the hearts of her children.
