Decatur County Journal
Thursday, January 6, l9l6

A very pretty home wedding was solemnized at
the home of the bride's
parents, MR. and MRS. FRANK OVERHOLTZER, one
mile southwest of Grand
River, Iowa, December 25, at 6 p.m. The
officiating parties being MISS
HAZEL OVERHOLTZER and EDGAR J. HINES, of this
city.

The bride was becomingly attired in a gown of
white messeline trimmed in
shadow lace and carried a bouquet of white
roses, a present of the
bridegroom. The groom wore a suit of dark
blue serge. Those present
were the immediate relatives of the bride and
groom.

At six o'clock MISS MAY HINES sang the
beautiful song: "O Promise Me,"
followed immediately with the wedding march.
The bridal couple taking
their places beneath an arch of holly and
poinsette. After the ceremony
and congratulations the entire company were
invited to the dining room,
where a three course supper was served by the
bride's mother. The rest
of the evening was spent in music and
pleasant conversation, the company
departing at an early hour. MR. and MRS.
HINES went directly to their
home which had been previously furnished.

HAZEL and EDGAR are well and favorably known
in the community, where
they grew to man and womanhood, graduating
from Grand River High School
in the class of l9l2. HAZEL chose teaching
as her profession, which she
followed successfully, teaching in the
Ellston High School at the
present time. EDGAR chose dentistry as his
profession, graduating from
Iowa City, June, l9l5, locating in Grand
River, where he has already
gained the patronage of a wide range of
territory and the confidence of
all who know him. Both are accomplished
musicians, being well known in
social and church work. We would have to
travel far to find another
such a happy combination of talent and
possibilities as are united here.

The couple have the hearty congratulations
and best wishes of all their
friends and loved ones who bid them Godspeed
in their journey through
life.

C.C. McGinty, Minister of the Christian
Church officiating.
