Decatur County Journal
Thursday, July 22, l9l5

WILLIAM CASH, father of WINFIELD CASH, of
Leon, is eighty-five years old
today and the members of the family and a
number of friends are gathered
at his home to assist him in observing the
birthday anniversary. The
gathering of the family and friends was a
surprise to MR. CASH. MR.
CASH is the oldest continuous voter in
Decatur County. He cast his
first ballot in April, l852, at Miller's
Store in Burrell Township and
has always voted in Burrell Township, Decatur
County, having never cast
a ballot at any other place. The first
President that MR. CASH voted
for was Winfield Scott.

All of his family were present at the
surprise dinner today except
Attorney J.R. CASH, of Bonesteel, South
Dakota. He was unable to attend
because court is now in session at Bonesteel
and he had important cases
that required his attention.

MRS. WINFIELD CASH, of Leon, baked a ten
pound cake for the dinner upon
which were placed eighty-five lighted
candles.
