Man Held for Cutting W.W. MOORE at Pleasanton
Secures Liberty.

AWAITS ACTION OF GRAND JURY; MR. MOORE is
Recovering from the Wounds
Received in the Unfortunate Affair.

LAWRENCE GRAVES, who with SCHUYLER HOLT, was
arrested Sunday, June l4th,
at Pleasanton, following an unfortunate
affair of the evening before
when WILL MOORE was severely wounded by a
knife, was released Wednesday
morning of this week on bond, GUY DAVIS and
others, of Pleasanton, being
his surety. HOLT remains in the county jail.

MR. MOORE is getting along well and it is not
expected that he will
suffer any further serious consequences from
the bad cuts. MR. MOORE is
employed in the Smith & Hagan Store and on
the evening of the cutting
affray, met HOLT and GRAVES on the street.
GRAVES told MOORE that he
should be at home and a few words passed
between them. MR. MOORE went
on down the street and then came on back when
he claims GRAVES after
again beginning to talk to him made a
movement as though he meant to
draw a gun. MOORE knocked him down.
HOLT then jumped upon MOORE and it is claimed
attacked him with a
knife. A bad gash was cut across MOORE's
right arm and there were two
other minor cuts on his back. Doctors J.W.
WAILES and G.P. REED, of
Davis City, were summoned to attend MR.
MOORE.

County Attorney SHARP and Sheriff LOREY went
to Pleasanton on the
following day and placed HOLT and GRAVES
under arrest on a charge of
assault with intent to commit murder. They
were brought to Leon and
placed in jail. GRAVES, who is employed on
the railroad at Pleasanton,
is a quiet and peaceable man when not
drinking. It is said that this is
the first trouble that he has been involved
in.
