Pfc. Adrian B. Carr
Pfc. Adrian B. Carr, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Ross J. Carr of Grand River, owned and operated the last store in Westerville. He closed the store upon his induction into the U.S. Army in April of 1942. Adrian went overseas in August or 1944, serving in France and Belgium before going with the First Army to Holland and German.
Adrian was killed in action in Germany on November 16, 1944. He left a wife, Mary Carr, who received his posthumously awarded Purple Heart.
Pfc. Carr was interred at Henri-Chappell American Cemetery and Memorial, Henri-Chappell, Belgium.
