SSgt. Lloyd Leon Carter

SSgt. Carter was serving with the U.S. Army in the 515th Bomb Squadron of the 376th Bomb Group overseas during World War II. He was reported as missing in action over Austria on February 24, 1944. Later he was declared killed in action on February 23, 1944.

Funeral for Lloyd Carter

Word was received here by the I. M. Bowen family through Mrs. Frank Ketcham, an aunt of the deceased, that the body of Lloyd Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Carter of Leon, Iowa, is being brought back from overseas for burial. Funeral services are to be held at Leon at the F.S. Stewart and Son Funeral home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22. [Interment was made at Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.]
