Decatur County Journal
September 3, l9l4

The Journal Editor received a letter Monday
from the PALMER sisters, who
left Leon last spring for an extended visit
at their old home in
England. The letter says that it is a very
serious time for England and
that they feel that their visit to the old
home came at rather an
unfortunate time, and that they would feel a
bit safer were they back in
the United States again. The Government
there is taking all the horses
they can find for war purposes. The weather
there, the MISSES PALMER
say, has been most pleasant and that there is
a large crop of fruit and
that it has been a good year in general.
They say that they often think
of the old friends in Leon and Decatur
County.

We also received Wednesday morning a copy of
the London Daily Telegraph,
sent us by the PALMER sisters. The paper is
dated August l5, and
contains much news concerning the action of
the troops of the countries
involved in the great European conflict.
The MISSES PALMER and their brothers are near
Bleadon at Weston, Super
Mare, Somerset. Their many Decatur County
friends trust that they will
suffer no inconveniences as a result of the
war in Europe.
