Decatur County Journal
September 3, l9l4

A pretty home wedding was solemnized at the
home of MR. and MRS. J.P.
NELSON near Florence, Minn., Monday, August
l7, at 7:30 o'clock, when
their only daughter, ALFREADA JOSEPHINE, was
united in marriage to MR.
LEONARD A. PERDEW, of Leon, Ia., Rev. J.
Hanna, of Balaton, officiating
using the beautiful ring ceremony. The bride
and groom marched into the
parlor, led by four flower girls dressed in
white and carrying
carnations. The bride and groom were
attended by four bridesmaids and
best man.

The bride was dressed in gold silk overlace
over white silk messaline,
wearing a white silk veil and a wreath of
Orange blossoms. The groom
wore a suit of navy blue broadcloth with a
bouquet of white roses.(Note:
I copied this exactly as written?! Nancee)
Mrs. A.M. Moore played the
wedding march. Cousins of the bride, MISSES
VERLIE and FLORENCE WHEADON,
played a duet and a song, "Where the Red-Red
Roses Grow." The room was
nicely decorated with roses, carnations and
ferns. The guests numbering
over l50. The table was spread in a bowery
where a four-course 8
o'clock dinner was served. The table was
decorated with flowers and the
national colors. The waiters were in their
teens and were neatly
dressed in white.

Following the dinner a dancing party was
given. The bride was one of
our leading young ladies. The groom is a
stranger to us, but we are
sure that he is a gentleman and worthy of the
young lady he has taken
for his wife.

They left the home of the bride's parents
Tuesday afternoon in an
automobile, accompanied by relatives and
friends, for Pipe Stone, Minn.,
and taking the train at 5:30 p.m. for the
groom's home in Leon, Ia.,
where they will visit relatives and friends
for an indefinite time and
will be at home to their many friends after
May l, l9l5 in Des Moines,
Ia.
