1854 they came to Iowa settling on a farm 4 miles east and 1 1/2 miles south
of where Weldon now is. It is on this farm a little north and across the
road east that the Metier Cemetery was started when a Mrs. Pettis walked to
ask Samuel if she could bury her little girl on that hill. In 1856 Mr.
Metier gave the land for the cemetery.

Children of Julia and Samuel were: Sarah Ruby, Mary Theodosia, Cyrus William

Earnest and Juseah Pearl.

John had an implement store in Weldon shortly after Weldon was started.

children were: Diana, born July 19, 1890, Blass, Sam Barnett, born Nov. 27,

Will, Boyd and Sam all lived on the Metier farm at times after they were
married.

Diana Metier and James Isaac Wade were married June 20, 1922. Diana had been
a school teacher for several years and James was a rural mail carrier out of
Weldon, a job he had for 34 years when he retired.

They had two daughters: Harriett Frances 1927-1963. She married Gene Bane in
April, 1946. They had two children: Karen Kay born 1947 and James born 1955.
