JOHN OVERHOLTZER

John C. Overholtzer was born in Galesburg, Illinois, October 17, 1867. He
moved with his parents to the Fairview community when he was 14 years old
and lived there 65 years. John was only a small boy when the Fairview
Church was built and he carried water to the working men.

John was an active citizen, serving as Decatur County Supervisor, Decatur
County Hospital Trustee, Franklin Township Trustee, Township Assessor, and
Fairview School Director. Four generations of Overholtzers attended
Fairview School.

John was married to Eunice L.Varner (born in Ohio) in 1899. Four children were born: Carrie, Lynn, Gladys and Ruth. Carrie Luce and Ruth Myers of Leon are all the family still living.
