Wednesday at ll:30 a.m. MISS KATE SANKEY was
united in marriage to MR.
THEO. J. SMITH at the residence of the
bride's parents, MR. and MRS.
E.J. SANKEY. The contracting parties and
their families being so well
known added greatly to the interest on this
occasion. The rooms were
made very attractive by the ornamentation of
a profusion of flowers and
potted plants. A mass of flowers and an
archway had been arranged in
the southeast corner of the parlor; suspended
from the ceiling was a
floral wedding wheel. Promptly at ll:30
o'clock, the wheel revolving
announced the approach of the wedding party.

The wedding march was rendered by MISS ADEL
MERVIN, and the bridal party
came in view, MISSES LOIS SANKEY, HATTIE
HASKETT, GRACE ALLEN and ELA
ONEY carried pink silk ribbons which formed
the aisle, through which the
bridal party passed. The solemn words that
united this worthy couple
were pronounced by Rev. G.M. Hughes, of the
M.E. Church.
Then followed hearty congratulations by the
many friends in attendance.

The bride looked charming in a pink albatros,
walking length, slippers
and mitts to match and carried bridal roses.
The groom was attired in
the conventional black.

MR. SMITH is to be congratulated on the
selection he has made, as no one
is held in higher esteem here, where she has
been raised. She was
accomplished and attractive, her manner is
kind, sincere and
unaffected. She is a graduate, possesses a
large fund of information,
and is fitted to fill any position to which
she may be called.

MR. SMITH is a young man of great popularity;
he is genial, wholesouled
and industrious. He has been engaged in the
stock business for some
time, and is generally esteemed by our best
people. They were the
recipients of a great number of presents,
handsome, useful and
ornamental. These young people start out in
their new life under most
favorable auspices, and we wish for them the
happiness and success we
believe they are worthy of. After
congratulations an sumptuous dinner
was served.

The happy couple left for St. Joe on the
afternoon train, for a few
days. After which they will be at home to
their many friends in
Lamoni. The visiting friends from abroad
were: MR. and MRS. J.R. SMITH;
MR. and MRS. E.H. SMITH; MR. and MRS. C.F.
SMITH; DR. and MRS. G.W.
SHERMAN; MR. and MRS. B.E. TEALE, MISS LOUIE
SMITH and MR. ART SMITH all
of Lamoni. MISS ANNA WHITTAKER of Kellerton
and MRS. G.W. HASTY of King
City, Mo.
