C.M. MURRY is in Chicago this week.

HOLLIE KELLEY returned to Lime Spring last
night.

MRS. GARRETTSON, of Osceola, is visiting
WM. CREIGHTON's.

MISS BIRDIE PARKER, of Davenport, is
visiting with MRS. H.J. CLOSE.

WILL LOREY left Tuesday afternoon for
Seattle, Washington Territory.

MRS. I.N. CLARK and daughter, FANNIE, are
visiting friends in Trenton,
Mo.

DR. and MRS. HOLLAND, of Osceola, were
over Sunday visitors at MARION F.
STOOKEY's.

MR. G.W. DICKEY and son, EDDIE, are
expected home today from Grinnel,
via Des Moines.

REV. EDWARDS was at Russell over Sunday,
where he occupied the pulpit of
the Baptist Church.

ED. BROOKS is in Chicago this week,
ostensibly to look after the
nomination of the next President.

MRS. W. VAN WERDEN is home from Illinois,
where she has been for the
past four or five weeks.

MRS. DR. LAYTON and RAY, left Monday, for
Chicago, where they will visit
MR. and MRS. ORR SANG.

SHERIFF HONNOLD left Thursday to attend
the Sheriffs' Convention, which
is in session at Cedar Rapids.

WILLARD SELLARS, of Decatur Township, was
a caller at this office
yesterday. Of course he reads the best
paper in Decatur County.

W.H. BRENNEMAN, of Weldon, was in to see
us Monday regarding his paper,
of which he has been a constant reader for
many years.

MRS. JENNIE L. HASKETT and daughter,
HATTIE, returned from Earlham,
Saturday night, where she has been
visiting the family of A. HASKETT.

MRS. S.A. GATES, and mother, MRS.
SPRINGER, are visiting friends in
Indianola. They will attend the
commencement exercises of Simpson
College.

MRS. MARY WARNER is in Iowa City this week
attending the commencement
exercises of the Iowa State University.
CLYDE graduates in the law
department.

T.H. KNOWLES, of Woodland, was in to see
us last Monday and renewed his
subscription to the JOURNAL. MR. K. has
just purchased a farm of l60
acres near that place.

MR. and MRS. J.P. PETERS and children left
this morning for Sedalia,
Mo., where she expects to spend several
months visiting with friends.
JOE will return within a week.

GEO. HALL, of Hall & Rathbun, left Monday,
for Chicago, with a car load
of fine chickens. Also a few old
roosters, which he says are saved up
especially for the delegates to the
Republican Convention.

JOHN DAVIS, of Franklin Township, is home
from Nebraska, where he has
been visiting his son for the past three
weeks. While out there, JOHN
heard and saw a geat deal, and what is
astonishing he is perfectly able
to tell about it all, and JOHN is not much
of a talker, either.

W.M. CARR, of Conway, and former editor of
the Herald, of that place was
in town Tuesday and made us a pleasant
call. He has recently sold the
Herald and purchased the Hopkins (Mo.)
Journal. He is a good
newspaperman, thoroughly understands the
wants of the reading public and
will make the Journal a success.

GEO. W. MACHLAN returned home last
Thursday from Chicago.
