Decatur County Journal
March ll, l909

On March 7, l909, at 2:30 p.m. near Arispie, Union Co., Iowa. A very
pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of the brides' parents, MR.
and MRS. JOHN PRIEST. The contracting parties being GRANT ALLEN and
MISS LEOTA PRIEST and RUSSELL ALLEN and MISS JANIE PRIEST. As the
strains of the wedding march were being played by Miss Madge Aikin, the
two couples entered the parlor attended by JOHN PRIEST, a brother of the
brides and MISS ADA HEMELRICH. After they had taken their places, Rev.
EDWIN PRIEST, a cousin of the brides, pronounced the words which united
their lives. He used the beautiful and impressive ceremony of the
Christian Church.

The brides were attired alike, being beautifully gowned in white. The
grooms wore the usual black. The brides are two very estimable young
women of Union Co. And the young men are to be congratulated for the
wisdom they have shown in choosing wives. The young men are sons of MR.
and MRS. E.F. ALLEN of Decatur City, Iowa, and are both men of good
habits.

Immediately after congratulations, a beautiful and wedding feast was
served, to which all did ample justice. Besides the near relatives of
the brides, there were present Mrs. Hemelrich and daughter, Ada, of St.
Joseph, Mo., and William Bruner, grandfather of the brides, Mr. and Mrs.
E.F. Allen and son, Roy, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Eiker all of Decatur City,
Iowa. Mr. Aikin and family of near Arispe. As evidence of the esteem
in which these young people are held they are the recipients of many
beautiful and useful presents. These young people will engage in
farming near Decatur and we predict for them a prosperous voyage over
the sea of marriage.
