I have been looking for my Monson family for sometime now, but of course I was looking in Chicago and Illinois as that was the destination they gave when they emigrated from Sweden in 1872. Since they are listed on the 1880 Lucas County, Iowa Federal Census, Cedar Twp. with a daughter aged 7 and born in Iowa, I assume that Chicago was only their temporary stop.

The father, Gustaf Månsson, is apparently deceased as his wife is listed as widowed, but the family that is living together are:

Mary G. Monson, age 47 (Greta Gustafva Pettersdotter)
Frans O. Monson, age 20 (Frans Oscar Gustafsson)
Nils Otto Monson, age 16, (Nils Otto Gustafsson)
Peter A. Monson, age 11, (Per August Gustafsson)
Emma C. Monson, age 7

I would appreciate any help in finding any other relatives, descendants of this family. Another daughter, Anna Lovisa, age 19, Gustaf Ferdinand, age 22, were also children of Gustaf and Mary G. but I don't know if they are deceased, married and living elsewhere.

Gustaf's sister Carolina was listed on the 1880 census with her second husband Lewis Ferm, and her daughter Emily Anderson. Carolina, Lewis and Emily lived in Chariton. I am not sure how far that is from Cedar.
