Rev. C.W. REEDER, of Leon, captured a large number of prizes at the state
poultry show held at Des Moines, January 6 to 12, with his hens of White and
Black Orphingtons. He was awarded five firsts, four seconds, three thirds,
three fourths, two fifths, a special prize for best hen and a special for
the best pullet. He also won three silver cups, one offered by Poultry
Success for the highest scoring exhibit of Orphingtons, a cup offered for
the best pen of ten birds all Orphingtons, and a Register and Leader cup
offered for the highest scoring pen of five birds. In the list of prizes
Rev. REEDER was awarded first and second cockerel in White Orphingtons,
first, second, third, fourth and fifth hen, second, third and fifth pullet,
first and second pen and first pen of ten birds. In the Black Orphington
class he secured first pullet, second and third hen, fifth pullet, third
cockerel and third pen. Rev. REEDER has a fine lot of chickens and they
have won many prizes over large exhibits in many large poultry shows. He
has many egg orders booked for future shipment and every week sells and
ships large numbers of birds from his pens to all parts of the United States
His success is gratifying to Decatur County people.
