BIOGRAPHY ~ FRANK NOYES
Graceland University, Lamoni, IowaProfessor Frank Noyes conducted the first concert of the Des Moines Civic Orchestra, a joint effort between Drake University and community musicians, November 21, 1937 at Hoyt Sherman Place. The event follows more than a decade of earlier efforts to form a permanent group which would eventually change its name to the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. Frank would conduct the Des Moines Symphony for 30 seasons. He retired in 1967.
Frank taught violin at Graceland from 1939 to 1942.
