BIOGRAPHY ~ YOUNG BAE KIM
Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa

Young Bae Kim earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. He taught political science courses for 10 years at Graceland from 1969 to 1979. He left Graceland and taught international political science and East Asian studies at Maryville College, Maryville, Tennessee, for 25 years. While at Maryville College, Dr. Kim was instrumental in establishing the Jackson Lecture series. Funded through an endowment established in 1981 by Maryville College alumna Mrs. Mary Lib Jackson in honor of her husband, The Jackson Lecture series was designed to bring experts on Asian culture, politics and religion to East Tennessee region for a two-day lecture evention to promote interest in international education.

In 1997, Dr. Kim and his colleague Dr. Scott Brunger co-edited the book Effects of Japanese Investment in a Small American Community: A Case Study of Autoparts in East Tennessee.

Dr. Kim is now retired.
