Biography ~ Perry Wolverton

Ringgold and Decatur Counties, Iowa"
(Lewis Publishing Company (1887)), p. 635:

PERRY WOLVERTON, farmer and stock-raiser, resides on section 23, High Point Township, where he owns 200 acres of land. He was born in Wyandot County, Ohio, December 5, 1836, son of LEWIS and MARGARET (ANDERSEN) WOLVERTON, natives of Pennsylvania, the former of German, and the latter of English ancestry. He came to High Point Township in 1857, and worked by the month three years. He was married in Decatur County, in 1860, to CAROLINE, daughter of ISAAC and ELIZABETH (LEA) MILLER, natives of Pennsylvania. Their children are - LIBBIE M., wife of HENRY CANFIELD, of Lucas County, Iowa, and JENNIE C. in 1862 Mr. WOLVERTON enlisted in Company A, Thirty-fourth Iowa infantry. He participated in the siege of Vicksburg and Arkansas Post, and was in several other battles. He was sick in the hospital at St. Louis three months, and was honorably discharged at that city. Politically he is a Republican. His maternal grandfather served in the war of 1812.

NOTE: Perry Wolverton died in 1919, Humeston IA. Caroline A. (Miller) Wolverton was born in 1844, Ohio, and died in 1926, Humeston IA. They were interred at Humeston Cemetery, Humeston IA.

Perry's brother John Wolverton, was born in Ohio, February 14, 1929, and died December 17, 1906. He was interred at Last Chance Cemetery, Lucas County IA.

Of Perry and Caroline's daughters:
Libbie M. (Wolverton) Canfield was born in 1862, Decatur Co. IA; and died in 1917, Des Moines IA; married Henry Otto Canfield; interment at Humeston Cemetery.
Jennie L. (Wolverton) McKibben was born in Decatur Co. IA on April 4, 1864; and died on March 8, 1944, Alameda Co. CA; married Frank Thompson McKibbin, born 1859, Decatur Co. IA, and died in 1933, Wayne Co. IA; interments at Humeston Cemetery.
