E. C. MACY, M.D., of Pleasanton, a son of Dr. David and Caroline (Gibson) Macy, is a native of Harrison County, Missouri, born July 7, 1884. When he was eleven years of age his father located at Pleasanton, Decatur County, where he spent his youth receiving his education in the schools of that village. He commenced the study of medicine with his father, and in the fall of 1874 formed a partnership with his at Jamesport, Missouri, which lasted until 1876. He attended the American Eclectic College at Cincinnati, Ohio, receiving the degree of M. D. in 1879. After dissolving partnership with his father in 1876 he returned to Pleasanton and engaged in the practice of his profession whichhe has since followed with success, building up a large and lucrative practice. His first year's practice amounted to $1,500, and since then has reached as high as $5,000 per year.

The doctor was united in marriage July 23, 1865, to Miss Almira Snook, a native of Pleasanton and a daughter of William and Rosena Snook, who were among the early pioners of this county. This union has been blessed with one child - E.O. born November 22, 1870. The doctor was a soldier in the war of the Rebellion, enlisting, July 3,1863, in Company K, First Missouri Cavalry,a nd was in the engagements at Marshll, Independence and Big Blue River, Missouri, where General Marmaduke was captured, Mr. Macy being one of the guards who conducted the General to Jefferson City. After serving two years he received an honorable discharge. He is living on the old homestead, which is one of the best residences in the town, and is now the property of our subject. Dr. Macy is active in any enterprise calculated to promote the cause of education or religion, or the public welfare, and has always been a prominent citizen of Hamilton Township, gaining by his honorable and upright dealings, the confidence of all who know him. The doctor is a member of the Odd Fellows order, belonging to Pleasanton Lodge, No. 204.

NOTE: Dr. Macy died on May 12, 1911. Almira (Snook) Macy was born on March 10, 1845, and died April 19, 1921. They were interred at Hamilton Cemetery, Pleasanton IA.
