Biography ~ C. L. Norton

Ringgold and Decatur Counties, Iowa"
(Lewis Publishing Company (1887)), p. 661:

C. L. NORTON, is a native of Keokuk, Iowa, a son of SAMUEL and CORDELIA (MCCOY) NORTON, early settlers of Center Township. His parents were natives of Ohio, coming from that State to Iowa. They located in Decatur County, in 1862, buying land in Center Township, where the father died, in the fall of 1883. The mother now makes her home with our subject. Their family consisted of twelve children – ANNABLEL, SAMUEL, VIRGINIA, SARAH WALKER, CHARLES L., EDWARD, ALBERT, EDWINA, FREDDIE, GERGIA, WILLIAM and WALTER. SARAH, FREDDIE, VIRGINIA, GEORGIA and ALBERT are deceased. C. L. NORTON has a fine farm of 120 acres, all under cultivation. He is one of the representative young farmers of the township, and an esteemed and upright citizen. In addition to attending to the duties of his farm he is extensively engaged in buying and shipping stock. He has one son – JOHN WESLEY.
