Mamie Emons
Mamie Elizabeth Emons was born in Schuyler County, Missouri, on May 14, 1902. She passed away on Wednesday evening, December 10, 1980, at a Kirksville hospital. She was 78 years, six months and 26 days old.
She was one of a family of six children born to Austin and Amanda (Zaerr) Lasley. On October 2, 1919, she was married to Jesse Cecil Gooden. To this union seven children were born: Nelda, Hobert, Hubert, Elma, Austin, Ruth and Donald.
Mr. Gooden passed away on May 6, 1931. After the death of her husband, Jesse, Mamie moved to Eldorado Springs to be near her parents who were living there.
On May 18, 1939, at Eldorado Springs, she was united in marriage to Samuel Monroe Emons. To this union were born: Wesley Clair, Ronald Lee, Violet Rose and one infant who died in infancy.
In 1953, Mr. and Mrs. Emons moved from south Missouri to the vicinity of Memphis, Missouri, where they lived until his death on May 5, 1956.
They were both members of the Barker United Methodist Church, where they attended until his death. After his death, Mamie again moved to Eldorado Springs, Missouri where she lived until October of 1977, when she returned to Schuyler County.
Besides her parents, her husbands, and infant daughter, she was preceded in death by one brother, a sister, Mary Abigail Lasley, another sister, Delpha Lasley Gooden, a brother who died in infancy; and two step children, Leona (Emons) Keagen and Everett Emons; three grandsons, PFC Gerald Gooden, James Leland Gooden, Danny Gooden, and great-granddaughter, Jill Roberts.
She leaves to mourn her passing her ten children: Mrs. Ray (Nelda) Kinney, Bloomfield, Iowa, Hobert Gooden, Memphis, Missouri, Hubert Gooden, Bloomfield, Iowa, Mrs. Jesse (Elma) Rippey, Omaha, Nebraska, Austin Gooden, Milo, Missouri, Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Latta, Eldorado Springs, Missouri, Donald Gooden, Lancaster, Wesley Emons, Nebraska City, Nebraska, Ronald Emons, Bee, Nebraska, and Mrs. (remainder missing)
