Esther Elizabeth Delzell
Esther Elizabeth Delzell, 77, of Mesa, Arizona, died May 6, 1981, at Mesa Lutheran Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born at Wapello, Iowa, to Edward and Jessie Blasi on Nov. 15, 1903. She was united in marriage to Milton Lee Delzell on Sept. 30, 1920, at the home of Delzell's grandparents in Bloomfield, Iowa. They had lived most of their married life in Davis County, Iowa, but had resided in Mesa, Arizona, for the past two years.
They were members of the Pulaski Mennonite Church all their married life except until recently their membership had been transferred to Desert Chapel Methodist Church. She was active in the women's work of the church at Pulaski and taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Lee, three sons, Clifford M. of Bellingham, Washington, Clinton E. of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Gene W. of Mesa, Arizona, one sister, Bonita Augspurger of Bloomfield, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers, and three grandchildren.
Services were held May 9, 1981, at Desert View Chapel of Mesa, Arizona, and entombed at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Service was conducted by Rev. Kingsley of Desert Chapel Methodist Church.
Memorial has been established to Pulaski Mennonite Church, Pulaski, Iowa.
