HILDA MAE BROWN
Hilda Mae Brown, age (7?) years, 3 months and 22 days passed away after a lengthy illness at the Bloomfield Manor of Bloomfield on Saturday, July 1, 1978 at 4:50 P.M.
She was born on march 9, 1900 to John B. and Gertie Lemon Vorhis in Davis County, near Troy, Iowa. She went to school and graduated at the Troy School. She then attended College at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. She taught school in the Troy school and elementary schools in the surrounding community.
On October 4, 1928 she was united in marriage to Charles L. Brown in her home near Troy by the Reverend J.C. Brevold.
Hilda was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Milton. She was a faithful worker as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by one sister, Iona Puckett and her husband, Harold of Washington, Ill.; one aunt, Mrs. Ethel Winn of Downing, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant daughter, Georgia Jean; one son, Charles Jerry, who was killed while serving in the Armed Forces; one brother, Bertie Vorhis and one sister, Goldia Inez, who died at the age of four and one-half years.
Hilda will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 5, 1978 in the United Methodist church of Milton at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Ed Kail officiating.
Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Milton.
Priester Funeral Chapel of Bloomfield - Milton was in charge of arrangements.
