Grant Blackwell
Grant Wilson Blackwell, 63, Bloomfield, was dead on arrival at the Davis County Hospital at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
A farmer, he was born Jan. 20, 1916 in Davis County to Arthur G. and Louisa Boyd Blackwell. He had been a resident of Davis County all of his life.
He was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church.
On March 13, 1936, he married Irene Carlson. She died in 1964. On Oct. 31, 1964, he married Dorothy York in Scotland County, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Sandra McCarthy of Overland Park, Kan., Joan Hicks of Oskaloosa, Linda Cohrt of Oskaloosa, Nancy Cantrell of Palo and Beverly Pitman of Bloomfield; three sons, Robert Blackwell of Ottumwa, Don Pitman of Phoenix, Ariz. and John Pitman of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Altheide of Bloomfield and Mrs. Pauline Swaim of Ottumwa; one brother, Dale Blackwell of Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wagler Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Bunch, assisted by the Rev. Lowell Newland. Burial will be in the Barker Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the Barker United Methodist Church.
