Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” February 13, 1961:
John H. Jones, 77, formerly of Ottumwa, died at his home in Bloomfield at 8:35 p.m. Saturday.
He had lived most of his life in Ottumwa before moving to Bloomfield in 1949 following his retirement from John Morrell & Co. He lived at 206˝ East Franklin in Bloomfield.
He was born Nov. 7, 1883, in Buffalo, Mo., to Jesse and Margaret Belt Jones and was married to Rosa Poncy in Ottumwa in 1905.
Surviving are his widow, four sons, Eddie Jones of Bloomfield, Floyd, Walter and Henry Jones, all of Ottumwa; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Walker of Bloomfield; one half-brother, Willis Stound [sic-should be Stroud] of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Johnson Funeral chapel Wednesday at 3 p.m., with Rev. Claude A. Wheeler, pastor of the Open Bible Church of Bloomfield, officiating. Pallbearers will be Eugene Johnson, Elmer Jones, Bernard Jones, Donald Jones, Robert Yoder and Leo Monohon.
