D. Modrell Dies At 83

David A. Modrell, 83, Moulton, died Wednesday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient for the past week. Since the first of the year he had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Hampton, at Leisure Living Estates.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Moriah Cemetery near Moulton. The Rev. Jerry Yancey will officiate. Arrangements are in charge of the Raymond Funeral Home.

Modrell was born Oct. 9, 1890 in Davis County, the son of Phillips and Mary Smith Modrell. He was married in 1909 to Iva Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death. In 1931 he was married to Grace Fincher. She also preceded him in death.

Modrell was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church. In addition to Mrs. Hampton, he is survived by the following children: Delmar Modrell, Paducah, Ky.; Pearl Modrell, Bloomfield; Mrs. Juanita Kratzer, Kirksville, Mo.; and Mrs. Opal Farley, Greentop, Mo. Twelve grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren also survive.
