Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” February 23, 1967:

BLAKESBURG–Eber Daniel Sammons, 84, of Unionville, died today at Leavenworth, Kan.

He was born Jan. 14, 1883, in Henry County, the son of John and Iowa Sammons.
He married Clara Jane Simmons on March 27, 1904, in Davis County. She died July 7, 1948. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Church at Unionville.

He was a retired farmer, farming most of his life near Ottumwa and in Davis County. The past two and a half years he had spent the winters with the Rev.
and Mrs. Fred Cowles in Leavenworth and the summers with his daughter, Mrs.
Irene Cassill at Bloomfield.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cassill of Bloomfield and Mrs. Ilela Cowles of Leavenworth; a son, Harold Sammons of Ottumwa; one brother, Herbert Sammons of Huron, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Grace of Raytown, Mo. and Mrs. Susie Carter of Viola, Idaho; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Knedler Funeral Home in Blakesburg with the Rev. Phillip Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery at Ottumwa.
