Leander Hiles Boyd 1856-1928

Lelander Hiles, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Elliott) Boyd, was born August 1, 1856 near Coshoston, Ohio, and departed this life July 8, 1928 after a lingering illness of one year and three days, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 8 days.

On February 28, 1885, he was united in marriage to Belle Ann Finch and to this union were born four sons, Alva Hiles, who died in infancy, James Ray at home, Ross E of Drakesville, Henry Neal, of Wauna, Oregon and two daughters, Mrs (Alta) F Marion Pray, of Allerton and Mrs (Alma) Dewey Albright of Bloomfield.

Mr Boyd came to Wayne County, Iowa in 1880 and located on a farm near Humeston, where he made his home until 1910, at which time he and his family moved to Davis County, Iowa, near Drakesville, where he lived until the time of his death.

One brother and two sisters preceded him in death several years ago, and one granddaughter, Betty Louise Pray, three years ago.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday at the Christian church in
Drakesville, conducted by Rev W H Slack, of Libertyville, a friend of the family, after which the body was taken to Lewisburg cemetery, near his old home, for burial, a request of Mr Boyd's.

Those left to mourn their loss are his wife, three sons, two
daughters, and four grandchildren, Richard Jennings, and Roy Eugene Boyd of Drakesville, and Iris Vinita and Ila Norine Boyd of Wauna, Ore., relatives and many friends.
